Today, Tuesday, May 24th, we had a practice Fire Drill with a visit to our Reunification Site. At 10:15am, our Fire Drill was activated, students exited the building in less than 2 minutes. Classroom teachers and Support Staff escorted all 19 of our classrooms to our Reunification Site (temporary shelter in case of emergencies). Our School Resource Officer, Officer Aaron, was on hand to support with traffic. When we arrived, we checked in with Point People to ensure all classes and students were accounted for, and then returned to the building. We were able to conduct our full visit including walking there, checking in, going into the building, waiting until all classes arrived, and walking back in under 40 minutes. We are extremely proud of our students’ commitment to safety protocols during this practice drill and grateful for our teachers’ leadership and command over their students. We will continue to conduct more safety drills in the future to prepare our students for all types of emergency situations. If your child chooses to share this with you today, please feel free to discuss the importance of being responsible during these safety procedures: being calm, focusing on directions from their teacher/adult, being quiet so they can hear/respond to directions, staying off of neighborhood property, staying near their peers/teacher, etc. We appreciate your support with these very important events!
